Since 3 December 2025, MSC.581(110) replaced A.1050(27) as the IMO benchmark for enclosed space entry, and for the first time it named CO2 explicitly such that it is now the de facto industry expectation to have a means to detect CO2 onboard wherever CO2 is a foreseeable hazard, even though the resolution itself is recommendatory.
