The IMO Pollution Prevention and Response (PPR) Sub-Committee held its 9th session remotely from April 4 to 8, 2022. This Brief provides an overview of the more significant issues discussed at this session, which include matters pertaining to handling of wastes from Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems, inspection of Anti-Fouling Systems, and reduction of Marine Plastic Litter from ships. While new regulations developed by the PPR Sub-Committee are not finalized until approved by the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC), a review of the Sub-Committee's activity can provide a forecast of future regulatory developments
