GPS week rollover for products containing JRC GPS Chips will occur on 15th May 2022. The affected products will rollback their date to 29th September 2002. This may result in:

• Loss of scheduled transmission; LRIT and VMS transmission functions.
• Incorrect date in the transmitted data and log function.
• Inmarsat network registration and communication failure.

Owners are responsible for ensuring the correct operation and function of all SOLAS equipment onboard their vessel. As a critical part of the GMDSS system, GPS equipment reporting incorrect dates will not comply with the GMDSS requirements of SOLAS IV (13.8 & 18).
