Proposed changes to IMO requirements on safe mooring

The IMO has drafted new proposals for requirements pertaining to mooring safety. These will apply to selection, arrangement, inspection, maintenance and replacement of mooring equipment, including lines. These addendum's are intended to improve mooring safety and are projected to be in place from 1 January 2024 somewhat behind MEG 4 implementation within the tanker industry however.

MARPOL VI, Reg.22A - IMO List Of Ships Expected To Submit Fuel Report For 2020

The purpose of this Technical Alert is to remind operators of Bahamian registered ships of the requirement for timely submission of an annual fuel consumption report for each calendar year.

This Alert applies to all ships registered in the Bahamas to which Chapter 4 of Annex VI of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships 1973, as amended (MARPOL Annex VI) applies, including ships that may have been registered
with or deregistered from the Bahamas flag during the current calendar year.

Please find attached for information the IMO Circular letter No.4204/Add.19/Rev.2 dated 22nd July 2020 “Coronavirus (COVID-19) – Guidance for flag states regarding surveys and renewals of certificates during the COVID-19 pandemic”, including the annexed “Guiding principles for the provision of technical and implementation advice to flag States when considering whether to permit statutory certificate extension beyond 3 months” developed by IACS, for the role of IACS member Classification Societies as ROs acting on behalf of flag States “.
